Chemical Spill Training - Course Details
Course intro:
The Chemical Spill Training course is designed to provide participants with the appropriate information on the hazards and dangers of working with chemicals and how to react in the correct manner should a chemical spill occur. The course can be a half day or a more intense full day course.
Course content
- Introduction & Course Objectives
- Role of Emergency Response Team/Spill Team
- Review of Chemical classifications and hazard labelling
- Spill activation procedures and response
- Review of Personal Protective Equipment and clean-up materials
- Hands-on familiarisation with equipment
- Personal Protective Equipment donning and doffing exercises
- Chemical identification tests (Litmus and PH paper)
- Practical chemical identification exercise
- Spill clean-up and waste disposal procedures, e.g. acids and solvents
- Post spill risk and control
- First Aid
Who is the course intended for:
This course will be beneficial to management, supervisors and employees who use chemicals as part of their daily working life. These people need to be aware of the correct safe procedure to react to a chemical spill effectively.
Entry requirements
Minimum age- 18 years old
Minimum English requirements: Leaners must be able to understand and convey the concepts contained in the programme content.
